Service Over Self: The Legacy of Patricia Krohn
We carry forward a life of relentless advocacy by providing the financial bridge to elite mental health treatment for those who need it most.
The Patricia Krohn Foundation was formed by her son, Damon Krohn (far left, joined by other members of Patricia’s family), as a tribute to his mother’s passionate dedication to helping those on the front lines who experience chronic trauma as part of their profession.
Patricia was equal parts relentless in her tireless advocacy and giving to the members of her community. She held a special place in her heart for giving back and standing up for the pillars of our communities — those on the front lines like first responders and veterans, those confronting serious illnesses, and great people who deserved the best treatment and support but lacked financial resources. While her tragic death shook the small community in which she raised her family and helped countless others, her legacy lives on through the Patricia Krohn Foundation.
In addition, Damon experienced his own trauma when his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer (who is now cancer-free). As Damon describes, “What’s lost with cancer survivors is not only the trauma of hearing that ‘C’ word, the treatments needed that cause physical and emotional pain, the copious medical visits, but also the constant, nagging fear and dread related to this fundamental question: ‘Will this come back, and why me? Will I stay alive long enough to see my children grow up?’”
It’s a tortuous place to be, yet these incredibly resilient individuals find a way to keep going. The Patricia Krohn Foundation, in partnership with the Monarch Protocols, help those navigating the aftermath of any trauma find renewed hope, meaning, and sources of identity moving forward.
To honor Patricia’s legacy and her wish that every person, regardless of financial status or privilege, seen or unseen, should be treated with dignity, respect, and the best treatment options, the Patricia Krohn Foundation was created to support the heroes in our community. Join us, and help others see the gift of service and helping those who risk their lives each day for a better tomorrow.
